Bay of Islands Aero Club

The Bay of Islands Aero Club is situated at Kerikeri Airport, adjacent to the Air New Zealand terminal. The airport itself is near the historic township of Kerikeri, just 2km along Wire Road, off State Highway 10.

The club caters for both Microlight and General Aviation (GA) flying. It has comprehensive club rooms (available for hire) and has hangarage for three aircraft. Visiting aircraft can take advantage of the picketing area outside the club rooms.

Being part of both RAANZ, and FlyingNZ, Club members have the opportunity to participate in organised events both regionally, and further afield. The Club endeavors to run a social event each month; new members, and visitors are welcome to come along and participate in these.

The Bay of Islands Aero Club offers a full suite of training options, whether you are new to flying and just want to experiment with a Microlight certificate, are wanting complete your Private Pilot Licence, or you have your PPL and want to extend your abilities and knowledge.

Interested in seeing what it is like to control an aircraft over the picturesque Bay of Islands? Or maybe you have a friend or relative who has always had a desire to try flying? What better gift could there be but giving them the opportunity to try their hand at flying with one of the Club’s aircraft. Under the watchful guidance of a qualified instructor any new pilot can see if the world of aviation is for them.

Before your flight there is a briefing to help familiarise you with the aircraft that you will be flying in, and what you should expect during the flight in terms of where you will go, what you will see, and the sensations you will enjoy.
